PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The entire spectrum of neurosurgical disorders in children is treated by Washington University pediatric neurosurgeons and physicians in related disciplines at St. Louis Children's Hospital. Among the conditions are hydrocephalus, spasticity, epilepsy, brain and spinal tumors, craniosynostosis, brachial plexus injury, head injury, spine and spinal cord injury, arachnoid cyst, achondroplasia, neonatal intraventricular hemorrhage, cerebral aneurysm, cerebral vascular malformations, Moyamoya disease, brain abscess and other central nervous system infections, Chiari malformation, syringohydromyelia, craniovertebral junction anomalies, congenital dermal sinus, diastematomyelia, tethered spinal cord, lipomyelomeningocele and encephalocele.
In the 2011-12 U.S. News rankings of Best Children's Hospitals, the Neurology and Neurosurgery Center at St. Louis Children's Hospital, for which Washington University neurosurgeons provide specialized care, was ranked #5 in the nation.
